Spring Superfoods That Aren’t Worth The Money

You have probably been told that superfoods are great for your health, so you should include in your diet. However, there are some superfoods that aren’t worth the money. You will need to avoid purchasing the following superfoods.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil makes a nice addition to smoothies and granola. Many claim that it can also reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer. Additionally, they say that it can help you lose weight.

Coconut oil isn’t worth the money. It is high in saturated fat, which can increase the risk of heart disease. The claims about coconut oil have not been backed by research. You should choose avocado oil or olive oil instead of coconut oil. You can also add avocados to your diet. They are high in avocados. In fact, 1/5 of an avocado will give you 11 percent of the fiber that you need.

You can lower your cholesterol and risk of heart disease if you add avocados to your diet. Avocados also have vitamin K. This will ensure that your blood clots properly.

Nettle

Nettle leaves make a nice addition to your salad. Herbalists use it because they claim that it has anti-inflammatory properties. However, nettle leaves do not live up to their hype. They can also cause a variety of side effects, such as stomach issues, low blood sugar and sweats.

Mixing in nettle leaves with your salad won’t undo the effects of an unhealthy diet. It is best for you to eat a variety of leafy greens, including watercress, dandelion and arugula. These types of greens are a lot easier for you to find. There has also been evidence to suggest that they can reduce inflammation levels.

Flax seeds

Flax seeds are high in omega 3 fatty acids. They are also high in protein and fiber. The reason that flax seeds are not worth the money is because they are hard for your body to digest. Chia seeds make a nice alternative to flax seeds. They are a lot easier for your body to digest. You can also store the Chia seeds in the freezer or cupboard for months.

Bee pollen

Bee pollen is often called a superfood because it is high in protein. Herbalists also claim that it can keep your prostate healthy and boost your energy. Bee pollen is a great superfood. However, it can be quite expensive. There are more budget-friendly ways to get protein in your diet. You can eat tofu, chicken or eggs.

Maqui berries

Maqui berries come from South America. Proponents of Maqui berries claim that it can help you lose weight and lower your risk of diabetes. Maqui berries can be hard for you to find. There has not been enough research to support the claims.

Blueberries are a great alternative. They are also high in vitamin C. Vitamin C helps protect your immune system.
