Prove your cooking skill with these tasty skillet rib-eye steaks

If you want the taste of steakhouse meat without leaving the comfort of your home or spending a fortune, try out this easy-to-prepare skillet rib-eye steak recipe. It’s got enough butter to keep your tastebuds interested and a limited number of steps to hold your attention. Let’s take a closer look at this recipe for making mouth-watering steaks.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 tbsp of unsalted butter (unless your seasoning doesn’t contain salt)
  • 2 tsp freshly chopped rosemary leaves
  • 1 tsp seasoning
  • 1 bone-in rib-eye steak

Tips for cooking rib-eye steaks

It may sound obvious, but a great steak dish starts with purchasing great cuts. Bone-in steaks are always a safe bet. I like to buy cuts that have roughly a 1.5″ worth of thickness. If you can’t find any options pre-cut, you can always ask the store’s butcher to cut a piece for you. If you really want to get fancy, you can call ahead to schedule the perfect steaks.

Start by placing the rib-eye steaks on a non-stick sheet pan. Sprinkle your choice of seasoning on the top and bottom side of the steak. You’ll have to rub and pat the seasoning a little bit so it sticks to the steak. We recommend using a Stone House Seasoning mixture, but you can choose your favorite to use. Once the steaks are thoroughly seasoned, sprinkle some freshly-chopped rosemary on top of the cuts. The rosemary isn’t an essential ingredient, but it certainly adds an irreplaceable flavor and natural aesthetic to the dish.

When you’re happy with the seasoning situation, cover the rib-eyes and place them in the fridge. Allow the cuts to cool off and rest for around an hour. In fact, you can even prepare this dish the night before and leave the cooking portion of the recipe for the next day. It’s important to allow the steaks around half-an-hour to rest near room temperature before cooking.

When you’re ready to start cooking, turn your range to medium heat with a skillet on top. Add your olive oil and butter to the skillet. While people usually opt for one or the other, it’s a great idea to use both olive oil and butter for this dish. If your seasoning includes salt, consider using unsalted butter to not oversaturate your meat.

When your butter and olive oil have become one solution, move your skillet around to ensure the entire surface area is coated in the mixture. Next, slowly add the steaks to the skillet. Allow the meat to cook until its caramelized and dark brown. This should take around 5 minutes. Once completed, flip the steak over and wait until the other side looks the same.

When you’re happy with the steaks, remove them from the skillet. Place them on a serving platter or carving board and let them rest for around 5 minutes. Cut into the steaks by going against the grain. Remove them from the bone before serving. Typically, one steak of this size should feed two people.
